A simple road separates companies Ulmann and Faber, located in the small area of Saint-Valérien (Yonne). Both come from the Paris region and had relocated at different times, but for the same reason: lack of place to develop their production. Today, they live a common history with Emmanuel Dubois who repeated them while they encountered major difficulties. This business leader, from retail and industrial groups, arrives in the Yonne Department in 2001 with mission to close Ulmann, French manufacturer of tables of school, but also connecting surfaces: billboards, vitrines, and school supplies under his name or trademark distributors reseller. The company then 98 persons and shows a loss of EUR 1 million. Parisian headquarters of 1,000 m2, near boulevard Saint-Germain, is on the accounts. In addition, unit transferred production of Draveil (Essonne) at Saint-Valérien in 1969, with the father of Henri de Raincourt, the current Minister of Relations with Parliament, to give work to harkis housed in a subdivision created in their intent, is abandoned to itself.
"I immediately sell the Parisian premises for almost 4 million euros, to getting the cash, and finds untapped expertise quality, hence my decision to buy the company in 2002", says Emmanuel Dubois. Happy initiative, because since that time, society Ulmann (12.5 million euros of turnover, 56) prosperous with a growth of 2 to 3 per year. Better, she claimed the rank of a national number for the production of school type now also digital and Classic paintings (50 of the market). "I do regret not my Parisian life when I was working as a courier boulevard Saint-Germain", provides Patrick Labois. This former Ulmann today escaped the crowded transit strikes repeatedly and is even the luxury to go home at noon. "I have not had too much evil to Acclimate me here, not being a child of Paname", he added.
In Faber France, specialist of custom interior blinds purchased without the liabilities in June 2009 by Emmanuel Dubois, the speech of the former Parisian employees, employed in Bagnolet (Seine-Saint-Denis), did not differ. Corinne Bischoff is part of the 10 people to have opted in 2000 for the relocation icaunaise, when the manufacturer was still a subsidiary of the eponymous Danish (Velux group). "I easily found for to stay me in a less stressful and especially less polluted environment where my children do not meet the violence at every street corner", says this dynamic woman. Candidate also for the move, Armelle Lebas return does not live in his district of Gennevilliers (Hauts-de-Seine). "I am more afraid for my children, I run less, even if here attitudes are quite closed," indicates the latter.
However, this idyllic side of the province supports several caveats. The first is the fate of the male spouse. Few men are willing to follow their wives or so difficult which may end in divorce or separation. For Luc Perrault, former resident of Montreuil (Seine-Saint-Denis), the problem is elsewhere. "As a transplanted, it has been difficult to my friends and then, I regret the teamwork we had before, the locals are more wary or even enclosed," he said. Emmanuel Dubois, he has not regrets his choice, even if the Faber relief (48 people) is not coming as a sinecure. "The proximity of the two companies allows us to achieve significant economies of scale by the establishment of common synergies for certain functions: finance, purchasing, maintenance, computer and transport", said Bertrand Lamarque, the Director-General. Vagrant a year ago to revive the company, it is this year the 6 million euros of activity and 50,000 stores sold not less.
